Feminist Criticism in Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse and Ibrahim Ahmed’s Janî Gel

This paper investigates the concepts of Feminism and Feminist Criticisms to identify their features in two novels; Virginia Woolf’s To Lighthouse Ibrahim Ahmed’s Janî Gel. The theoretical historical backgrounds other are presented according importance. then introduces novels by presenting plot summary. tries answer how prominent writers, one British Kurdish, discuss women issues. author wants investigate whether both writers’ cultural upbringing social background affect way they present respective novels. Through quotations taken from novels, learns about ideas regarding women’s issues; economic, social, psychological, political. In conclusion, study argues that experiences English society Kurdish have many similarities; however, despite similarities, there lay differences attitudes writers towards issues representation. For instance, Wood presents an ideal female character oppose traditional roles her novel. On hand, Ahmed paints vivid imagery what go through without solid characters. Thus, this hopes provide future students researchers with helpful material on Feminism, Criticisms, analysis especially one, since research is scarce it.
